We need to upgrade our heating and complete our new 110 capacity venue Room 34 — helping Futurist Cinema stay warm, sustainable and open for the future.
Our Story
Futurist Cinema is Kidderminster’s independent cinema run by a small but passionate team dedicated to creating an inclusive and accessible space where everyone can come together, enjoy films, live music, DJ nights, theatre and local creative projects. We believe independent cinemas only survive when communities come together to support them. Since taking over in July 2024, we’ve worked tirelessly to make the cinema welcoming, vibrant and accessible — and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far.
However, Screen 3 was a beautiful but difficult space. Its vaulted ceiling made it almost impossible to heat efficiently in winter. On cold nights, it could cost more to heat the room than the ticket sales could cover.
As a result, the space was underused; not because our community didn’t want it, but because it simply wasn’t viable.
Now we’re excited to take the next step: upgrading our central heating and creating Room 34, a brand-new 110-plus-capacity venue space with its own bar for live arts, creative events, film screenings, and private hire. Room 34 will allow us to host workshops, talks, performances and community events, giving local people a flexible professional space to gather, create and share culture.
As a small independent business, we’ve already rolled up our sleeves and done a huge amount of the work ourselves to keep costs down. So far we’ve:
How We’ll Use Your Support (£20,000 Target)
Your backing will help us complete the project properly and professionally:
This is the key to the whole project. Efficient heating will allow Room 34 to be comfortably used year-round, making small and mid-size events financially viable for the first time.
Targeted insulation to tackle the coldest parts of the building, reduce wasted heat and ensure the upgraded heating system is effective.
Flooring, lighting, electrics and finishing work to make the space fully accessible.
Creating a flexible layout for events and private hire.
Fridges, till system and serving area for events.
Every pound will go directly to materials, specialist labour and essential equipment to help secure Futurist Cinema’s future as a fully inclusive community and arts venue that is accessible for everyone.
Why Room 34?
Room 34 is named after the original cinema screens 3 and 4, brought together into one flexible space.
By making the space affordable to heat, Room 34 can host workshops, talks and live events without needing a full house just to break even. That means more regular programming, more local hires, and a stronger, more resilient Futurist Cinema.

Our Vision
Futurist Cinema is more than just a cinema. It’s a place for community, creativity and connection. By supporting this crowdfunder you’re helping us keep an independent cultural space alive and create a new venue where films, live arts, workshops and local creativity can thrive.
With your help Room 34 will become a welcoming hub for the people of Wyre Forest and beyond — warm, accessible and full of life.
This isn’t just about improving a building — it’s about building the next chapter of Futurist Cinema together and creating a space where our community can gather, create and grow.
If you believe independent cinemas only survive when communities come together, we would truly appreciate your support.
